Pillow Talk

Speaking of you's and thou's... Antony's use of 'thou' with Cleopatra sometimes seems inconsistent. When he's cold with her, or angry, he uses it, but he also uses it in certain intimate moments where one thinks he would favour the 'you'. My suspicion is he uses the 'thou' when he's speaking for the history books, and only switches to 'you' for the true pillow talk.

And once, very movingly, he uses 'you' with his servant Eros:

Apace Eros, Apace.
No more a soldier. Bruised pieces, go.
You have been nobly born. From me awhile.
